Published by the Royal Hashemite Documentation Center of Jordan, the book "News of the Hashemite Descendants of Al-Hassan and Al-Hussein from the History of the City of Peace by Al-Khatib and its Appendices" is part of the Encyclopedia of the Progeny of the “Ahl al-kisa “(1), released in 2014. The authors are Dr. Bashar Awad Ma'ruf, Al-Sharif Essam bin Nahid Al-Hajari, and Dr. Mohammad Bashar Awad.

This book includes all the biographies of the Hashemite shrief of Al-Hassan and Al-Hussein who lived in Baghdad. Their stories are documented in "The History of the City of Peace" by Al-Khatib Al-Baghdadi (d. 463 AH / 1071 AD), the appendix to "The History of the City of Peace" by Ibn Al-Dubaithi (d. 637 AH / 1239 AD), what has reached us from the history of the Baghdad historian, Muhibb Al-Din Ibn Al-Najjar (d. 643 AH / 1245 AD), and the appendix on Ibn Al-Najjar by Muhammad Ibn Rafi' Al-Sulami (d. 774 AH / 1372 AD) with selections by Taqi Al-Din Al-Fasi (d. 832 AH / 1429 AD).

The book is divided into three main sections: the first on the biographies of Ali ibn Abi Talib and his sons Al-Hassan and Al-Hussein, peace be upon them; the second on the biographies of the Hashemite descendants of Al-Hassan; and the third on the biographies of the Hashemite descendants of Al-Hussein. Each section is arranged alphabetically for easy reference.
