The First government in the era of the Emirate of Transjordan

حكومة الشرق العربيThe first government in the era of the Emirate of Transjordan was established on April 11, 1921, and was then called the Government of the Arab East because it included members from several countries where Arab nationalist sentiments were prevalent. The Council of Ministers was known as the 'Council of Consultants' at the time, and its members were referred to as 'Consultants.' The royal decree appointed Mr. Rashid Tali'a as the head of the Council of Consultants, as follows:

  • Rashid Bek Tali'a, Administrative Secretary and President of the Council of Consultants, and Deputy Consultant of the Interior.
  • Prince Shaker bin Zaid, representativeof the Tribes.
  • Ahmad Bek Marayyed, Assistant representativeof the Tribes and Member of the Council of Consultants.
  • Amin Bek Al-Tamimi, Consultant of the Interior and Governor of Ajloun District.
  • Mazhar Bek Arslan, Consultant of Judiciary, Health, and Education and Member of the Council of Consultants.
  •  Ali Khalqi Al-Sharairi, Consultant of Security and Discipline and Member of the Council of Consultants.
  • Sheikh Mohammed Khader Al-Shanqiti, Chief Justice and Member of the Council of Consultants.
  • Hassan Bek Al-Hakim, Consultant of Finance and Member of the Council of Consultants.

The council issued a law stipulating that the Emirate of Jordan would consist of three districts: 1- Salt, 2- Karak, 3- Irbid, each to be administered by a governor with the same authority as provincial governors.

This government continued until June 23, 1921.
